GREMYASHCHY (Sovremenny
Class Destroyer)
|
|
|
|
THE IDEA
|
While my
intention was to focus on USN ships, I have grown fond of Russian ships as
well. Having found a copy of Dragon's Sovremenny class, I decided to
'squeeze' it in between other projects as it should be a fairly easy build.
The kit does not have too many parts and since Dragon was kind enough to
include PE parts already, I expect to not run into too many problems
building this ship. I will be depicting the Gremyashchy as she is one of the
two Sovremenny class ships in the Northern Fleet which be joining the
Admiral Kuznetsov carrier group in the future.
Here are some pictures of the

More railings, this time taken from the GMM
set. Also, the set comes with excellent helipad safety nets and I exchanged
the plastic ladders on the sides for the ones from the set as well |

All railings mounted and the stern was
remodelled, assembly of the main mast with all its details, adding the
finishing details to the foremast |

All main componants are now ready for painting
