Construction of the hull is again done in the 'sandwich' manner for
stability. The sanding is of course the most challenging part. Despite being
a modern frigate designed with smooth, angled surfaces for minimizing the
radar signature, getting the right angles for the vertical surfaces proves
to be more difficult than it looks.
The same goes for the bow of the ship, which features some additional angles
not found on any other ship. |

Construction of the main
superstructures: cut sprue pieces for added stability.
The aft superstructure is
slowly coming together. I decided to leave the hangar halfway open, so a
simple hangar bay had to be constructed. Also a few details were already
added.
I particularly like the design
tidbit that the Norwegians thought of: the triangular shaped flat surface
instead of the usual corners. |

Also work on the mast as well as
the bridge has started. Particularly the angled edges of the bridge were
difficult to build. The result is far from perfect but it will have to do. I
am looking forward to having the mast up by tomorrow, as it really
differentiates this class of frigates from other stealth ships of other
navies.

Mast construction finished with
all details. The Aegis radar panels need to be sanded down a little as they
seem quite a bit too thick. |
Construction of the forward stack
in progress. |

Forward and aft stack now
completed. The model is currently in the first detailing phase. On the
forward deck are now the 8 VLS cells.
The last picture shows a
comparison to an Arleigh Burke class destroyer. This impressive frigate is
almost the same size, but of course the AB packs quite a bit more punch. |

Detailing part 2. Finished the aft
superstructure including the hangar area. The first crane for the dinghy is
not yet permanently attached. Same goes for the two stacks, which are also
now finished. The missing railings on the forward superstructure and
midships were added using spare PE parts.
The main turret is not nearly
perfect, but acceptable since it was also built from scratch. |

Only a few details missing now and
she is ready for the paint shop. |

Final details have been added: The
mast, superstructures and hangar bar including the safety nets for the helo
pad. Next pictures will be with paint. |

Almost done.
First and second layer of paint
are on the hull. Remaining radar domes, antennas, anchor, weapons and other
smaller details along with the rigging will be added in the last and final
step in a few days. |
