HMS LIVERPOOL (D
92)
|
|
|
|
THE IDEA
|
The Liverpool is my first RN
warship and the last ship of the second batch with the short hulls. My
intention is to build one ship from every batch of the Type 42s which will
be replaced by the Type 45s that will be commissioned in the years to come.
The Type 42s that I will build will later function as escorts to the HMS
Ark Royal that I also plan on building sometime in the future. But first
things first :)
Since I would like to depict the Liverpool in her 2008 configuration, quite
a bit of scratchbuilding needs to be done.
Some general modifications included:
- modifying the midship, adding the raised platform for the CIWS
- modifiying the forward / aft superstructures
- detailing the bridge wings, adding the missing doors to the bridge
- moving all emergency life rafts to their correct positions
- detailing all antennas
- scratchbuilding the crane, detailing the RHIBs
- modifying / detailing the 20mm guns and 4.5inch gun
