SAMARA (K 295)

Ever since I found that Hobby Boss is putting all these neat submarine kits in 1/700 onto the market, I knew that I had to get hold of some of them. Unfortunately, it seems rather difficult since not many model shops offer them. Still I'm glad that I got hold of this Akula class sub.

Not much needs to be said about the build. With just a few parts it was fairly easy. The only "problem" was that despite the fact that the hull comes in two separate pieces, the "upper piece" still does not correspond to a real water line hull. So some material needed to be taken off the hull before she could be put to sea. The base was also my first attempt at modelling water out of silicone. The result is fairly decent but I am sure that I will try out other methods as I am not 100% happy with it.

Here are some pictures of the finished model.
